Get more bang for your buck this bonfire night
An interesting blog based on tips and tricks around Bonfire night.

Remember, remember the 5th of November… Now Halloween is over, bonfire night is the next big occasion in your family calendar. We’ve compiled some top tips to make sure your night goes off with a bang while you stick to a budget.

Fireworks

It’s not bonfire night without fireworks. However, you need to make sure the ones you’re buying are safe and therefore you don’t want to compromise on quality. The supermarkets usually have some great bundles available which won’t cost the earth, but if it is too much money, you could rally your neighbours to see if they want to enjoy them together and split the cost. Alternatively, sparklers are a fun cost effective substitute, and can be just as entertaining!

Guy Fawkes grub

With November comes colder weather, so comfort food is a must for bonfire night… How about getting the BBQ fired up one last time and laying on bacon and sausage sandwiches? Alternatively, you could make a big batch of soup and serve it in cups, or a winter warming chilli bulked out with loads of veggies and a crispy baguette.

Relight my bonfire

You can celebrate bonfire night without an actual bonfire – and if you’re hosting a party at home, you should try and go without. Emergency calls to firefighters triple around firework night, so if you want to see a bonfire, try and go to a local event where it will be managed properly.

If you want to stay home, get crafty with your children and make your own mini ‘bonfires’ out of tissue paper, red and orange glitter, an electric tea light and some mason jars. A fun, cheap and creative way to get the family involved in the festivities.

Find an event near you…

If you don’t fancy hosting your own party, or you’re desperate to see Guy Fawkes burning on a bonfire, have a search for free events around your local area. A number of councils hold public displays so have a look on your local council site to see whether they have any free events planned that you could get involved with.
