Scarily good, budget friendly Halloween costumes
A useful blog to help choose a cheap but great costume

Carving pumpkins, dressing up, and eating sweet treats; Halloween is a time of festivity. For some, however, the thought of finding an outfit is frightening. But there are great alternative and creative ways to look scarily good on a budget, meaning you can both spook and save!

Check out these five budget friendly costume ideas that are sure to go down a treat.

A ‘Cereal’ Killer:  You’ve heard of reducing, reusing and recycling. Well, this witty number allows you to do all three. Just save your cereal boxes, grab a white t-shirt, and buy some fake blood. Your outfit could be mastered for as little as £2!

A Ghost: It’s a classic Halloween costume for all the right reasons; ghosts are frightening, they represent souls coming back from the dead… And it’s a really easy outfit which will cost you nothing. Raid the linen cupboard and find an old sheet. Throw it over your head and cut out some eyes. It couldn’t be simpler. If you don’t have any old sheets lying around, head to your local charity shop and see if they have one you can pick up.

A Zombie: Unnerving and unpredictable, the zombie is a classic Halloween trope. And with a bit of makeup, fake blood and some old clothes, you can get the look locked down for cheap. Find some old jeans, a big t-shirt, back comb your hair, and use make-up to blacken your eyes. Don’t forget to practice that famous zombie march. You’ll be sure to spook the neighbours!

A Robot Family: Co-ordinated costumes go down a treat on Halloween…And in an age of artificial intelligence, the robot is more scary than ever! So If you’ve got the time and skills take some old cardboard boxes, buy some foil and silver spray, and your entire family can be Halloween ready.

An Emoji: Choosing the right emoji can be frightening enough when you’re texting. So why not dress as one this Halloween? DIY the goofy ‘crazy tongue face’ with felt, google eyes, and lollypop sticks or go as the red-dressed ‘salsa dancer’. If you’re looking for a conversation starter, have a look at these ‘misinterpreted emojis’ - chances are you and everyone you know has been using them wrong.
